Crawford Bridge, Spetisbury

Stopped off at Spetisbury on Saturday to see the River Stour, which has developed a sudden ambition to become one of the great rivers of Europe...

Today, in other news, it has been snowing. Not much. Not settling. A few tiny flakes on the wind. But after months of rain, with the temperatures at +12 degrees C, when the temperature suddenly drops to 2 degrees C, with snow, it feels very, very cold.

Yes. I think it's safe to say we are having a very wet winter!

I've seen the River Stour this high before, but not very often.

Last time I crossed Crawford Bridge, back in the autumn, the river was a lot narrower!

Wow! You still have so much flooding. It comes up fast here but goes down just as fast. The river was back to normal when I walked to Quaker meeting last Sunday.

It does seem that the flooding is taking longer to subside this year. But I don't know whether that is due to the water table being so high this winter, or due to all the new housing estates that have been built along the Stour valley in the past few years.
