The Model Village

Met up with C. and her terrier, for a walk - well, actually, a squelch - around Corfe Common. So wet. So muddy. But down by the stream, the willows are full of chiffchaffs declaring it is spring. And in the village, pairs of jackdaws are house-hunting among the chimney pots.
Afterwards, a quick detour into the newly-refurbished National Trust shop to stock up on birthday cards, then coffee sitting outside in the garden of the model village. Because it wasn't raining. You've got to celebrate a day when it is not raining.

A giant hound haunts the streets of the model village at Corfe Castle.

A teeny-tiny wedding, with a bride with a beehive hairdo and a long-haired groom in a bright blue suit. By which sartorial splendour you might guess that the model village first opened to the public in 1960s.

In the gardens, daffodils, and the first of the tulips in flower.

The garden has only just re-opened after the winter, and the sparrows have not yet got back into the habit of visiting the tables to steal cake crumbs.

Date: 2024-03-17 02:12 pm (UTC)The sun actually came out here this morning, and it was so warm I ended up coming back from my walk with my coat tied round my waist. I can't say the paths have dried out though. Everywhere is so, so wet.
