Bluebell Woods 1



In Bere Woods, the bluebells are in full flower. The distances are a sea of blue below, a mist of green above. And in the air, the faint sweet scent of wild hyacinths, so subtle it's hardly there at all, until it creeps up on you by stealth and intoxicates you.

Wren song and blackbird song. And now and then a bumblebee humming among the bells.

I love those photos. We lack any spectacular bluebell woods, though there are some woods that have bluebells if you go at the right time of year. Which may be now, so I should perhaps try a walk that way this weekend.
