Took Max for a walk across the water meadows to the river. Met a gentleman walking an elderly labrador and a springer spaniel, and, while Max snatted his teeth at both dogs and was generally unsociable, the gentleman and I fell into dog chat; Max's history, the merits of springers versus cockers (we were both springer fans - "Springers are more honest," he said), the genetic propensity to fluffiness in chocolate coloured spaniels.
