Sunset by the River

A walk by the river at sunset, in the hope of seeing a Starling murmuration over the reedbeds.





Did I see a murmuration? No, just a few Starlings on the way to, presumably, join a murmuration somewhere near the harbour's edge.












Made it back along the muddy track just before the light went.

But it's lovely to see the swans and the flocks of ducks swimming on the water meadows in winter. Makes the winter seem less bleak.

Those photos are beautiful. A shame the starlings didn't oblige with a murmuration. I've seen them flying (murmurating?) around Aberystwyth pier and it's amazing to watch.

I've seen photos of murmurations around piers and it looks spectacular. I've never been in the right place at the right time to see a proper murmuration here. Maybe one day...

I don't mind December nearly so much when it gives us bare trees against a winter sunset!

I'm not very good at identifying gulls, but I think it might possibly be a Mediterranean Gull? Despite the name, they're quite common here.
