Dodging showers in the forest

I was expecting to get rained on this morning - heavily rained on - so only took my little Pentax camera, in its plastic bag. But actually I had managed to pick a large gap between the downpours, and the sun came out. Walked the circuit through the plantations which I often used to walk with Max. Flocks of Long-tailed Tits flitting among the trees alongside the track. And in the distance, a family of Hobbies playing noisy games above a stand of pines.

It was glorious! I missed the rain so much this summer...

The third picture is shows that things are starting to look autumnal.

It has been very wet here, but there have also been sunny intervals. The weekend looks more settled, so we're hoping for a walk on Saturday.

No toadstools yet, but there's definitely an autumnal feel to the forest now. The mist takes a while to lift in the mornings.

Fingers crossed the weather is a bit quieter for the weekend!

We used to get long-tailed tits in our garden now and then, but haven't seen any for several years now.

Good to know they're hanging on somewhere...

Such delightful birds! I love seeing them dangle upside-down from the birch twigs.
