August at Holme

There were goldfinches feeding on the tall sunflowers at Holme on Sunday. The gardens full of their cheerful squabbling.
I hate to think how much water the gardeners must have used this summer to keep everything alive and flowering. But it was so nice to walk upon grass that was green, upon earth that was soft.
