Swanage Folk Festival II
Sep. 11th, 2022 09:02 am

Arrived at Swanage yesterday just after nine, well before the crowds, and strolled along the promenade into town to treat myself to black coffee and at croissant at Forte's Italian café. Then went for a wander up to the pier.

The calm before the crowds arrive. By lunchtime, once the festival was in full swing, there were queues outside every café, tea room, bakery and chip shop in town.

I don't think the rusted chains had anything to do with Morris dancing - more likely a deck chair attendant freeing his charges.

Slowly dancers began to assemble along the prom. And at half past ten, the dancing started.

Foxs Morris.

Dorset Buttons.

Phoenix Morris.

The Wight Bells.

Tatters & Tails Border Morris were dancing on the Little Pier (not the easiest of locations).

Met my sister and my niece along the front, my niece looking glum, as my sister laced her up into a dress. The side my sister dances with were short of dancers and my niece had been drafted in to make up the numbers.
*Niece grumbling tiredly*
Sister: "You agreed to dance. I have it on text."
Niece: "Yeah, but you texted me at the end of a thirteen hour shift, and I was delirious..."
