An evening walk to Swyre Head

Encombe.
On Sunday I met up with C. and her Manchester Terrier, for tea & cakie & chat at the little tea room at East Creech. Max came too. The tables there are all outdoors, and the wasps were out in force. I laid a paper napkin over the Victoria sponge and weighted it down with knives, so that the wasps would not spot the jam on their aerial reconnaissance flights.

Watch the cakie!

Yesterday C. and I met up again, to walk up through the fields and onto the headland at Swyre, to see a temporary art installation that C. had mentioned. After two days of heavy rain, suddenly the weather cleared, and it was a glorious evening.

Encombe House, down in the Golden Bowl.

We reached the top of the climb, and it turned out I was too late to see the art installation - it had already been taken down. But that was fine. We sat on the barrow on the headland instead, and watched the setting sun turning the sea to gold. (Gold! Gold! It's all mine!)

C. send me a picture of the art installation: the Wind Hive:
