In the Hazel Coppice

October path

Sunshine and blustery showers. A changeable day. The sun coming and going. The wind one moment gusting fiercely, shaking the trees, and sending the leaves down in showers. The next moment calm, and the leaves falling one by one.

Toadstool

More toadstools than wild flowers at this time of year. Only the late-season flowers still blooming along the path through the nature reserve at K.

Nettle-leaved Bellflower
Nettle-leaved Bellflower (Campanula trachelium) - trachelium meaning 'neck'. In the past, the folk name for the plant was 'Throatwort', and it was traditionally used as a remedy for throat infections.

Devil's-bit Scabious
Devil's-bit Scabious (Succisa pratens).

If those were taken today, you've had better weather than we've had. I like the toadstools hiding away in the grass and the bellflower.
