November Still Life

Exif: f10, 0.5s, ISO100. Tripod shot. Rainy daylight.

Technical. A bit dark (looks okay in Lightroom, but you need to remember that pictures always look less dark in Lightroom, and you need to lighten them more than you think). f10 gets everything nicely in focus, but that can be a bit boring - you should have a play around at f1.8 as well next time.

Composition. The diagonal line at the bottom, from box to pumpkin to bottle, works okay to lead the eye in. But the line at the top is too flat - the eye reaches the bowl and stops. The bowl needs to be moved down/forward a fraction?

Interesting self-critique. I do agree that LR is slightly deceptive and DW never looks the way it looks here. It's a good shot, I like the composition. A lot. Would lose either the pumpkin or the horse. I always shoot wide open, and I think there's something to be said for a tack sharp still life...
