Chapman's Pool
Nov. 13th, 2022 02:01 pm
Met up with C. and her Manchester Terrier for a walk down to Chapman's Pool. From the little car park at Renscombe, instead of following the chalk track along the top of the headland to St Aldhelm's Head, we took the little lane down to Hill Bottom, and walked along the coombe, down to the sea.

The coombe, very damp and Novemberish.

The tide was too high - right up to the foot of the crumbling clay cliffs - and the stones of the narrow beach too slippery to make it safe to walk along the curve of the bay. So we went no further than the boat huts. I sat on a rock by the slipway, holding the terrier's lead and wrapping her in C.'s bodywarmer against the fresh wind, while C. got changed and went for a swim in the sea-weedy water.

A flock around the moon.

On the way home, stopped off at the tea rooms at Worth for cake and coffee, enjoyed al fresco on a suntrap stone bench on the village green.
