Stitchwort
Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea).

A grey day, and a bitter north wind. One shouldn't trust April. Came back from our walk with my fingers numb.

I wanted to walk through the damp rushy meadows by S., to photograph the Cuckooflower, but I had Max with me, and a herd of young beef cattle had been turned out to graze the area of open heath we needed to cross to reach the meadows. Red hairy cattle, black hairy cattle.

So we carried on a little way along the lane, took a detour through a little woods full of bluebells and stitchwort, and reached the meadows that way.

Cuckooflower
Lady's Smock or Cuckooflower (Cardamine pratensis), lover of damp riverside fields. Flowers & leaves are edible.

Aside from still lowered stamina and bouts of fatigue if I do anything too physical, I'm mostly recovered.

Though Janni and Eaglet picked up a nasty cold from the family funeral we've just returned from ...
