Glorious sunlight yesterday, lighting the new leaves. Orange Tip butterflies fluttering along the lanes. Bluebells and campions in flower. The first swallows of the year swooping through the sheep fields. And while the lambs sleep and play, the ewes crop the new spring grass with fierce concentration.

Grey day today. But none of the rain they promised. We need rain.

Max paid a visit to the dog groomer yesterday to be clipped. I don't think she did a great job - he's rather stripey - but I'm sure he'll be happier now he's less hairy.

And now I need to go and dig up all those little sycamores that have self-seeded in the garden, before they get any bigger and the services of a lumberjack are required...

Re trees self-seeding in the garden, I am forever mowing tiny oak seedlings. Actually I don't think they're exactly self-seeded because the nearest oak is too far away for the acorns to just fall and sprout. I suspect the squirrels are involved in the acorn transport and planting.

That first photo is beautiful. You really do have an eye for seeing a photo in a chaos of leaves and twigs.
