The weather forecast for today was not great, but last week's cold has left me with a sinus headache, and I thought some sea air might help.

An early morning walk along Studland Beach at high tide. Recent storms have scattered bunches of sea-grass along the tideline, left the sea an undecided shade somewhere between grey and brown.

Sat for a while on the dunes, drinking coffee, watching the waves wash in, and the dogs fly by in pursuit of balls and other dogs and happiness.

Beach life. The summer season is over, and dogs are allowed free run of the beach again.

When I arrived back at the car park, it was full, and hundreds of runners were making their way towards the beach for the start of an organised 12K race - the Studland Stampede. The narrow high-tide beach was about to become very crowded...

That sky looks very threatening. I'm glad it stayed dry. And yes, it's nice to get our beaches back from the visiting hordes.
