August heath

At home, the leaves are already dropping from the birch and the oak trees, autumn come very early due to the drought. And still no prospect of any rain. But down by the marshes, though the paths are unusually dry, summer is lingering. The heather and the dwarf gorse still flowering, and grayling butterflies are still on the wing. A small family of swallows were swooping through the blue sky and above the purple heather, but no signs that the swallows have started to gather yet.

You are very good at spotting butterflies!

Everything is still very green here. though the neighbours' apple tree -- which is laden with fruit -- has some leaves turning brown.

Lovely shots. Sorry to see everything so dry. We are currently in our longest stretch of Really Hot (+ or - 38 C.) of the summer. We've been very lucky of have avoided it this long. Still, we're used to brown, or golden as they like to call it. But seeing your green and pleasant land looking like California summer?! A bit heartbreaking.
