Summer in the Secret Garden II

It's peaceful in the Secret Garden. Birdsong. The hum of bees. The wind moving the oak trees that crowd up against the wall as if waiting to come in. Well, I suppose they are waiting to come in. Very patiently. A century or two is nothing to them.

Not all the oaks are outside the walls. This one was providing some friendly shade inside.

One corner of the wall. Not so long ago, the whole garden was derelict, overgrown with brambles. Now the brambles have retreated back to the edges. Waiting, like the oaks. But less patient.

It's a plot, I tell you: a vegetable plot!
Near the gate to the gardens, there's a small area of lawn for picnicking, surrounded by beds of eye-wateringly bright penstemons and alstroemeria.
