Alder. A plant important in the life cycle of the woolly aphid. Grows along waterways and in wet areas.

Yes, growing along the edge of the marshes. So beautiful at this time of year, when the catkins and the cones are side by side.

There was an issue of La Hulotte dedicated to alder but I read it so very long ago that I'm very hazy on the details. ^_^ There was something about the cones and catkins and how long it takes for the cones to mature.
