And for Red Admirals. Butterfly Conservation said their numbers were up by 400% on last year.

That's good news about the Red Admirals. By coincidence I saw someone on Facebook saying they'd seen a lot more around this year and we saw one in the forest last week. The forest isn't ideal for butterflies, or so it seems because we never see many.

We're seeing a lot more butterflies now the Forestry Commission has restored parts of the forest back to heathland. But back in the days when it was all conifer plantations, we only ever saw the occasional Red Admiral.
