East Creech 2
I went to East Creech, lured by the primroses flowering along the lane, and the little tea room at East Creech Farm, which has just re-opened for the summer season.

East Creech 1
Plenty of water in the duck pond now - hard to believe it dried to a mere puddle during the drought last summer.

Forsythia in flower against the cottage walls.

One of the cottages has an amazing spring wildflower garden of primroses, celandines and fritillaries.

Ash Dieback, Stonehill Down
I did venture up through the ash woods on the side of Stonehill Down, though there was a sign on the stile advising me not to. Though the ashes are dead and liable to fall, there wasn't any wind stirring the trees, so it seemed safe enough to take the path up through the wild garlic. But I didn't hang around to photograph the violets and wood anemones.

I suppose that, after the nesting season finishes, most of the dead trees will be cleared, and something planted in their place. A mix of oaks, sycamores, and beeches perhaps?

It's sad to see the signs about ash dieback. Apart from that though, it looks like a lovely walk.

We went to the park yesterday, and there were many dead trees knocked down, mostly ashes, by the windstorm of a couple weeks ago.
