Went to the Secret Garden to admire the September salvias...

Salvia 'So Cool Pale Blue', planted next to pale pink 'Peter Vidgeon'.

Salvia 'Nachvlinder' (which is the Dutch for "moth").

Salvia involucrata 'Rosebud'.

Salvia discolor.

Salvia 'Phyllis Fancy'.

The blurry version.

Bees visiting things which are not Salvias:

Not a bee:

Small Copper butterfly. Also on the wing: Red Admirals, Commas, Small Whites, Speckled Woods. More butterflies than I have seen all summer, in fact.
Autumnal things:

Verbascum (from barbascum, for the bearded stamens).

Helianthus, against a threatening grey sky. But the rain held off.

The Pelargoniums are back in the greenhouse, muttering "And summer’s lease hath all too short a date..."
