The Secret Garden, October
Oct. 9th, 2025 02:38 pmA perfect October day. A little pleasant chill in the air, and a little pleasant warmth in the sunlight. Another visit to the Secret Garden.

Inside the greenhouse, pelargoniums. Outside the greenhouse, the cosmos.
Also inside the greenhouse at the Secret Garden, scented things:

Still lingering outside, as if they cannot quite give up on the summer, the citrus trees in their pots:

Citrus Yuzu.

The jewelled Salvia beds still abuzz with bees:

To Autumn John Keats.

No holding back on the mellow fruitfulness this year...
Autumn: "What unrestful creatures these humans are. Let's try burying them in fruit..."

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
To Autumn John Keats.
