The Lanes is the old town of Brighton, a warren of brick alleyways, originally the old fishing town, but now home to many independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.


























Quadrophenia Alley (which featured in the film, and which is still a place of pilgrimage for mods. Hence all the graffiti...)

The old town of Brighton is crisscrossed with narrow back alleys. The tiniest gaps between buildings turn out to be thoroughfares! For a smartphone refusenik, it is a great place to get lost in. I'm still a little surprised I ever found my way out...
