I bought a pot of Gaura, to replace the Gaura killed off by last year's heatwave. I thought I bought the white variety, but it turned out pink. Pretty, but clashes horribly with the neighbouring pot of red Gaillardea.
Woke up feeling less feverish and shaky this morning, though I had some very weird, vivid dreams, in oversaturated colours. Everyone is back in the office now at work, so I suppose it's inevitable there will be bugs going round.
Still feeling a bit tired, after pottering round the house this morning, so I won't be venturing out with the camera this weekend. Garden update, instead:
Although the free-range, self-seeding herbs - marjoram and mint and lemon balm - have been running riot all summer, my containers have been a bit hit-and-miss this year. The Nemesia has been flowering non-stop, and looks lovely planted up with feathery-leaved purple Brachysome daisies, so those pots have been a success. The trailing Bacopa is still flowering, though looking a little the worse for wear. But the Icelandic Poppies hardly bothered to flower at all. The Salvia plug plants didn't like the compost and failed to grow (buy full-grown Salvias next year, not plugs). I think the neighbour's cat has been sitting on the Nepeta - it was looking lovely a few weeks ago, but now has a sadly flattened air.

The Icelandic Poppy reluctantly produces a flower.

Date: 2023-08-21 02:58 pm (UTC)I have a lot of fun trying to take macro shots of poppies. The wind makes them a moving target, so I never know which bit will be in focus!
