A Garden in October

Just because you take a day off work, it doesn't mean that the sun will shine...

A cloudy morning, the scent of rain in the air. Took a walk through the gardens at Kingston Maurward, where there were many students from the agricultural college lurking in odd corners behind the shrubs, waiting for me to embarrass myself by absentmindedly humming the notes of the hornpipe I've just started trying to learn on the banjo.

In the Red Garden, red things. Do you think this is a type of fuchsia?

A Viburnum?

Can't even hazard a guess at this one.

Ageratum and monumental leaves. (Canna Lily?)

Salvia still going strong.

And in the shelter of the Brick Garden, the marguerites and the geraniums still in flower.

Not yet autumn, in the Japanese Garden. I think I need to wait a few weeks before I make my annual pilgrimage to Minterne to see the maples.

Tree fern.

Pygmy Goat & goatee.
