Spaniel in the dunes

Frost on the car this morning. Glad I resisted the temptation to buy bedding plants on my visit to Holme last week. Took Max down to the coast for the last beach walk of the season. From 1st May, the summer season starts, and dogs are no longer allowed off-lead on the beaches here.

High tide. An icy pale blue sky. A grey-blue sea. Small waves breaking, briefly translucent, full of fragments of weed.



We walked early. Only a handful of runners and dog walkers on the beach. And a woman riding a white-faced chestnut through the shallows.


Dutch gag bit on the second ring, grackle noseband, running martingale. Do you sense that maybe she has braking problems?
