Carey's Secret Garden, again
Aug. 3rd, 2024 02:40 pm
I've been having a problem lately with my thumb joint locking, which Dr Google thinks might be stenosing tenosynovitis. So I've been trying to cut back a bit on the photography, and wearing a thumb brace when I do go out with the camera. Only, two days ago, I managed to lose the thumb brace. (Quite a feat. It is bright orange.)
So today, using the macro lens (which does not have a working auto-focus), every time I forgot that I need to be careful when trying to adjust the focus, my thumb locked. There was quite a bit of muffled yelping going on. But luckily, everyone else in Dorset had gone to the beach, and I had the Secret Garden pretty much to myself.
Still some roses in flower:

Rosa 'Henri Delbard'.

Penstemon.

Gladiolus, Sweet Peas & Verbena bonariensis. A pleasing tangle.

Hardy Geranium.

Lots of carder bees out today, which was nice to see. But not many butterflies.

Today's Big Butterfly Count:
1 Red Admiral
1 Gatekeeper
1 Speckled Wood
In the Arid Gardens, the salvias blazing away:

Salvia 'Rêve Rouge' and Salvia bullulata.

Salvia patens 'Giant Form'.
