Winter Garden
Feb. 13th, 2025 02:05 pm

Another grey February day. But in the gardens at Holme, the dogwood twigs very bright.

Nandina domestica, maybe?

A few early daffodils regretting their life choices.

Iris reticulata.

Brrr. So cold. Apparently my complaint about yesterday's weather made the east wind bitter. Didn't spend long in the gardens today, just snatched a few quick shots, with the wind trying to freeze my fingers.
*hugs mug of tea*
My tiny hands are still frozen... Well, actually my hands are not tiny. It has been proven. I nipped into Mountain Warehouse while I was in town last week and bought a pair of medium-sized gloves. I couldn't try them on before buying, because they were firmly attached with plastic ties to a piece of card. And when I got home and tried them on, the fingers were ridiculously short. A pair of gloves that would fit only the sinister Locksmiths in Frances Hardinge's books, with their tiny, lemon-scented hands.
The moral of the story being "Never buy gloves you cannot try on."
