Seacombe Ledges

Met up with C. and her terrier for a walk from Acton down to the sea, to sit for a while in the shelter of the old quarry at Seacombe, watch the waves wash in, and enjoy the warmth in the sunlight.

The old quarry village of Acton in the sunlight. Though you can see from the puddles how much rain we had during the storm on Thursday.

Following the Priest's Way, the ancient chalk track between Worth Matravers and Swanage.

The Met Office had forecast a bright morning but very chilly. They were right about the brightness - the light was so harsh I had to convert most of my photos to black-and-white - but wrong about the chill. Even on the high ground, the wind wasn't strong, and along the sheltered track which winds down the combe to the sea, it was glorious. Skylarks were singing. The first violets were in flower on the grass banks, bumblebees were busy on blossom, and I met the first Oil-beetle of the year lumbering across the track.
