Daffodil time

Every autumn, I order narcissus and tulip bulbs, somewhat randomly. Plant the bulbs. Forget what bulbs I have planted. And every spring, I am surprised by what pops up.



This year's narcissus are:


Narcissus 'Sinopel'. (I've read that the corolla of 'Sinopel' changes colour from yellow to green in warm weather, but if this is true, it is simply not warm enough here...)


Narcissus 'Pipit'.


Narcissus 'Thalia'.


And Narcissus 'Mondragon', which is startling, but not a surprise. It's so spectacular, I've ordered the bulbs two years in a row.

Wow, those are pretty. Sadly, mine are already gone, but there was a lovely week of them once we finally got rain in early March.

Our daffodils were quite late flowering this year, and are clearly making up for lost time!

Those are lovely. I really must plant some pretty things in the garden this year.

It's really hard work planting anything in the gravelly heathland soil here, so containers full of spring bulbs are a brilliant way of cheating.

I will have to do some proper gardening eventually though. And I think the lawnmower will be coming out of hibernation soon.

I love the name mondragon.

Yes! It's not a shy daffodil so it needs a showy name.

Oh the Narcissus, wow. And the Daffs too of course! :)

They really are putting on a spectacular display this year. I suppose it helps that we've had weeks of sunshine, rather than the usual spring rain and gales.
