In places, the heather is already in flower, but no Silver-studded Blue butterflies on the wing yet.

Wow, that shot of the dragonfly!

The dragonflies were having spectacular wing-clattering aerial battles over the water, but that's the only photograph I got of one yesterday.

The Green Hairstreak is such a different shade of green from the surrounding foliage!

It is! Yet surprisingly well-camouflaged and difficult to see until it moves.

I love the chaser and the Green Hairstreak. The only insects I noticed on our walk today were midges. Yes, the dry spell has ended so the midges are out. Only in small numbers so far, but they were around.

Sometimes it seems only the midges and the tiny flies are doing well. I'm glad the dragonflies and the sundew have something to feed on.

I'm still seeing very few bumblebees on my walks. Not many butterflies.
