Knitted/crocheted Punch & Judy show on top of a postbox. Postboxes in this country tend to get yarnbombed. They are a stationary target.

The Strand, a large paved square, lined with shops and cafés, in the town centre.

Was impressed by the giant teapot hanging over the hardware store.

Style never dies.
I only took a quick wander round the streets after breakfast, so I didn't see much of the town. I wouldn't say Exmouth is upmarket. Along the main street, barbers and cafés, betting shops and vape shops, and a lot of closed down businesses. On the back streets, a lot of beautiful period properties in a really sad state of decay. But it still seems quite a lively town, not quite losing the battle to keep the high street alive.

Art deco building that was once home to the Chronicle newspaper, and more recently to a restaurant business (which now seems to have closed down).

The Beacon Vaults, dated 1774. Now derelict, and one window smashed.

The back of the Manor Hotel, a most impressive mishmash, with what looks like round Art Deco extensions added to the back of the original 18th century coaching inn.

Manor Gardens, in the town centre. From here there are paths down to the seafront, which I had hoped to explore on Sunday morning, but it was raining and blowing a hoolie that day, so I never did get to take any photographs of the touristy bits of Exmouth.

I'm still a bit traumatised by childhood memories of those Punch & Judy shows...
