Another grey day on St Aldhelm's Head
Feb. 8th, 2026 12:25 pmAnother grey day, though the rain held off for a few hours this morning, and another walk across the high ground, this time following the chalk track along St Aldhelm's Head.

Even the high ground is wet.

A small lake to cross in the dip by the quarry.
I had hoped to see hares in the fields by the track. St Aldhelm's Head is a great place to see hares in spring. But, even though a few Skylarks were singing from somewhere up in the greyness, the hares had obviously decided it is not spring yet, and made themselves scarce.

The old coastguard cottages a little ghostly in the mist.

Distant headlands.

Hountstout, where I was walking last week, lost in low cloud.

Black-backed Gulls.
