The price of chips
Aug. 25th, 2022 02:54 pmI don't know what the official Bank of England inflation rate is now. I do know that when I walked into town at lunchtime yesterday to treat myself to a small portion of chips, it had gone up from £2 (at the start of the summer) to £2.90 - a rise of 45% in a matter of months.
I suppose chippies are right at the sharp end of things at the moment: rent increases, food price increases, energy prices going through the roof. And there's no help for small businesses, because there's no actual government at the moment. No-one is running the country, heaven help us.

Oh, yes. They're still getting paid. And still claiming expenses. But heaven forbid that anyone else demand a living wage.
Beerflation? heh!
