Blackthorn blossom

A dull morning. A little light rain in the air. At Durlston the blackthorn is in blossom, and cowslips are appearing in the meadows. Skylarks singing in the grey sky.

Cowslip (Primula veris). "In the ‘Language of Flowers’ it symbolises comeliness and winning grace." https://www.plantlife.org.uk/learning-resource/cowslip/

Skylark, singing.
"Hail to thee, blithe Spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from Heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art..."
Heaven's quite low this morning.

Buds on the Wayfaring Tree (Viburnum lantana). 'Wayfaring' because it often grows beside paths (not because it goes off wandering. Leastways, I've never met one off on its travels while out on my walks).

Rebuilding the dry stone walls. They're like a 3D jigsaw puzzle, and the waller starts out by sorting his pieces.

Spot the Chiffchaff.
