The Secret Garden, April
Apr. 29th, 2023 04:22 pm
The sun came out, and behind the walls of the Secret Garden it was officially Too Hot. (Apparently Brits can only tolerate a very narrow range of temperatures, between 12 - 18 degrees C. All else is too cold or too hot.)

Sunlight in the copper beech leaves, on the walk through the woods to the garden.

All the beeches coming into leaf.

In the Rose Garden, unexploded alliums.

Crabapple blossom.

Hardy Geranium.

Spring must be here. The Pelargoniums have been let out of the greenhouse (all bar the ones on the bottom shelf, who were peering out through the dirty glass wistfully).

But the Tree Fern still has on its winter nightie.

Date: 2023-04-30 01:01 pm (UTC)This is an old 19th century walled garden that was neglected for many decades, and is now being restored. It's really interesting to see it slowly coming back to life.
