Who can photosynthesize in this weather?

I think the anticyclonic gloom has settled into my heart. It's so hard to motivate myself to do anything.

It's not just me. My poor daffodils in their pots in front of the house started putting up tiny green shoots at the start of February. And the shoots remain tiny. No signs of growth at all. Who can photosynthesize in this weather?

But it was starting to get light this morning at half past six. And the wind today is less cold. For the weekend, the Met Office forecasts an end to cold anticyclonic gloom, and a return to rain and gales (which at least have the merit of being traditional English weekend weather).

The gales are already here. The rain is travelling sideways outside the window... But it does feel a lot milder today. 😊

We've had a howling gale and driving rain all day today, but I'm hoping it will blow itself out by tomorrow!

There was actually sunshine this morning and there was warmth in it! For the first time the chill had gone from the air. More wet weather is incoming though, but I'm no longer getting up in pitch darkness and it's lighter in the evenings too.

The wind is back in the southwest - hurrah! - and it feels a lot milder today. It is also bucketing down.

Looks like we might have to wait a few days before we get to measure whether there is any warmth in the sunshine...

And it's kind of the British weather to give us something we're allowed to grumble about.
